Why Sergio Aguero vs Harry Kane comparison by Darren Bent was hopelessly wrong
‘I just think statistically he has scored more goals, he's scored more important goals.’
With those words, former Tottenham player Darren Bent claimed that Harry Kane is a better striker than Sergio Aguero.
Bent once missed a Spurs chance which had his manager Harry Redknapp claiming “My missus could have scored that”.
Perhaps talkSPORT should consider employing good old Sandra Redknapp as a pundit, instead of Bent, given that his comments were yet another shocking slice when presented with an open goal.
With everyone else lauding Manchester City ace Aguero for his record-breaking hat-trick at Aston Villa, the fact he is the highest-scoring overseas striker in English football history and the deadliest of all Premier League strikers in terms of goals per minute, Bent went maverick.
He declared that all things being equal, he would take Kane ahead of Aguero.
“I just think statistically he has scored more goals, he's scored more important goals,” said Bent.
Statistically, Darren, Kane has scored 197 goals for his club and 32 for his country. Aguero has bagged 373 for his clubs and 41 for Argentina.
He went on: “I think there is a stat about players who have scored more than 20 goals in a season more than once - Kane has done it two or three times.
“I think Aguero has only ever done it once which is scary given how many goals he has got.
“So for me, if they are both on top, I'm going to go with Kane.”
