They say the wait for nod could complicate patient’s medical conditionTaking a strong objection to Gujarat government's restrictions on direct Covid-19 testing by private labs, Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Home Association (AHNA) has said it will be forced to stop all Covid-19 admissions at Covid-19 hospitals and divert the patients to government hospitals if the matter is not resolved immediately. In ato Principal Health Secretary Jayanti Ravi, it has said that the authority that has taken the decision will be responsible for its disastrous consequences. According to Gujarat government's notification (May 17), if a patient in a private hospital needs to get a test conducted, then it has to be routed through Sola Civil Hospital which will give its approval for testing at private laboratory. This means patients admitted to private and corporate hospitals will have to wait longer for Covid-19 test results.The bureaucratic red tape, they say, will also impact medical procedures at hospitals as a pre-surgical test is must to prevent infection in medical staff. Also, waiting longer for these results could cause further complication in a patient.
