Shannon Hale: What to expect from new children’s book, ‘Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn’

SALT LAKE CITY — Bestselling author Shannon Hale is launching a new picture book series, according to the Associated Press. “Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn” will be the first in a series of three books, written by Hale and illustrated by LeUyen Pham, according to AP. The book is “a delightful kitty and unicorn story that celebrates the magic of friendship —and being exactly who you want to be,” according to the book’s description on the publisher’s website. Hale and Pham have worked together previously on the graphic novels “Real Friends” and “Best Friends,” as well as the “Princess in Black” series with Dean Hale. “This was a true collaboration between best friends,” Hale wrote of the new book on Twitter Wednesday. “More than once when I’ve read it to someone, they said after ‘my face hurts from smiling.’” Just last month, the Utah author released a new young adult novel, “Kind of a Big Deal.” Hale is also the author of “Austenland,” “Goose Girl” and “The Princess Academy,” which made her a Newbery Medal finalist in 2006, according to AP. Abrams Books for Young Readers plans to publish “Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn” on March 23, 2021.
