Schools, Colleges: States extend suspension of physical classes - check statewise dates for school closure
Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Odisha have recently extended the suspension of physical classes in schools, colleges and all educational institutes in the states due to pandemic. The schools of Karnataka and Gujarat would also remain closed till July 31 as announced by the respective state governments. Odisha has extended the schools and college closure till August 31, 2020, among all above-mentioned states.
As per the Ministry of Home Affairs, MHA Unlock 2.0 guidelines the schools and the colleges are not allowed to be opened for physical classes. The students cannot be called to the schools to attend classes and lectures there as per the ministry. Thus many states would likely issue notices regarding schools shutting down till July 31 earliest.
In Uttar Pradesh, UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who holds the charge of the secondary and higher education departments informed, “"Online classes were held in UP till June 30. They will resume from July 6."
UP's Chief Secretary R K Tiwari said in a statement, “all schools, colleges and coaching centres will remain closed till July 31, though online classes will continue in the state.”
Similar was the case in Rajasthan where all the activities involving social gatherings have been suspended till July 31. Following this Gujarat has also suspended educational activities till July end. However, libraries can be opened in the state with 60 % of capacity.
