Reports: Jets Agree To Trade Steve McLendon To Tampa Bay Buccaneers

According to multiple reports, the Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to terms on a trade that will send Jets defensive lineman Steve McLendon and a 2023 7th round draft pick to the Buccaneers in exchange for a 2022 6th round draft pick. The Jets will see almost $1 million in cap savings from this trade. That’s not much, but it’s something. Assuming McLendon passes his physical and the trade goes through, Steve McLendon ends his Jets career as one of the few good moves the catastrophic Mike Maccagnan made as the team’s general manager for nearly five years. McLendon was an acknowledged leader of the team and an excellent run stuffing, space eating defensive tackle. He always played hard and usually effectively. It is good a guy like McLendon has a chance to play for a contender after the futility of his four and a half years with the Jets.
