Prince Philip and the Queen celebrate their wedding anniversary in November this year, 73 years after the British and Greek monarchies joined together. However, before they could tie the knot, the Prince was forced to drop one of his titles. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip met in 1934 at the wedding of Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark and Prince George, Duke of Kent. They started exchanging letters in 1939 and married eight years later when Philip was 26 and then Princess Elizabeth was 21. At the time, however, the Prince had to renounce several of his titles before becoming part of the British monarchy.
