Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex recently paid back $3.1 million they used for renovations to Frogmore Cottage. They have completely cut ties with Britain’s public purse, bringing them closer to their goal of financial independence. Now that Harry and Meghan have paid their debt, two more royal family members have angered UK taxpayers over expenses.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making moves toward financial independence
When Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior members of the royal family earlier this year, they cited their desire for financial independence as one of the reasons for the shocking decision.
Queen Elizabeth gave Archie Harrison’s mom and dad one year for a transitional period. They are currently six months in and have already made some serious money moves. Harry and Meghan purchased a mansion in the exclusive Montecito neighborhood of Santa Barbara, California.
Then, they signed a nine-figure deal with Netflix before paying back the $3.1 million used for Frogmore Cottage renovations.

According to USA Today, Prince Harry made a contribution to the Sovereign Grant in early September. This is the name of the public fund that goes to the royal family. A spokesperson said the contribution “fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage.”
The Windsor property, located west of London, will remain Harry and Meghan’s home when they visit the UK.
