Match awards for Bayern Munich’s 5-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt
FC Bayern Munich played their first home game since the Bundesliga’s return. After a routine first half Bayern were leading 2-0 at the break. Coming out of break was a different story. After Lewandowski scored in 54 seconds, Frankfurt scored two goals in quick succession to make it a one-goal game. After that Bayern were able to settle in and cruise to a 5-2 victory. Here are our match awards.
After Lewandowski made it a three-goal advantage for Bayern, Martin Hinteregger scored two quick goals off of set pieces to make it a bit scary for the Bavarians. The first goal came off of a free kick that went a bit over Hinteregger’s head. He collected it well but kicked it awkwardly off the pitch, pushing past Manuel Neuer. The second goal, just three minutes later, came off a corner kick to the near post that Hinteregger was able to head past Neuer again and into goal. It is of note that both assists came from former Bayern man, Sebastian Rode. Already scoring a brace, Hinteregger was going for one more goal to complete the hat trick. He got that goal, but unfortunately it was in his own goal, which gave Bayern back their three goal advantage.
