Jim Butcher offers a sneak peek of upcoming novel Peace Talks
The first Dresden novel in six years, Peace Talks was announced a few years ago by No. 1 New York Times best-selling author Jim Butcher. The book swiftly reached Amazon’s Top 100 best-seller list, fueled by pre-order excitement alone, and with its 2020 publication will also mark the 20th anniversary of the series.
Peace Talks finds the Supernatural nations of the world meeting up to negotiate an end to ongoing hostilities. Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard, joins the White Council’s security team to make sure the talks stay civil. But can he succeed, when dark political manipulations threaten the very existence of Chicago — and all he holds dear?
“It was a bit of a bumpy ride, but Harry Dresden is finally back in the saddle!” Butcher tells EW. “Twenty years of Dresden Files has been an amazing adventure for me, and after a period of tremendous personal difficulty, it feels great to be working at pace again. I hope to make this year a ridiculous amount of fun for my readers, with a 20 year anniversary celebration, contests, giveaways, regular drops of Dresden Files background and microfiction, interviews, and anything else I can fit into the time.”
Below, EW can exclusively debut the official cover, as well as a first excerpt. Peace Talks publishes July 14, and is available for pre-order.
