Interisland 'Trusted Partner' Traveler Test Program Now In Place For Maui, Kauai
Travelers flying between Oahu, Kauai and Maui will now be able to bypass the mandatory 14-day quarantine on Kauai and Maui with a negative COVID-19 test from authorized labs, Gov. David Ige said in a press release Saturday.
The Big Island requires travelers to take a second test — free of charge – upon arrival to the island with a mandatory quarantine until the results are available. Oahu does not require a quarantine for interisland travelers.
The pre-travel test program works much like it does for travelers arriving from outside the state. You need an FDA-authorized Nucleic Acid Amplification Test no earlier than 72 hours prior to departure and receive a negative result.
You still need to register and upload your test results on the state website, Safe Travels Hawaii, and have the test result with you upon arrival.
If you don’t take the test or it’s not from one of the “trusted partners” you’ll still have to do the 14-day quarantine or get an exemption from the county you’re traveling to.
According to the press release, the eight trusted testing partners for inter-county travel are:
• Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii — Patients should visit www.clinicallabs.com to schedule an appointment, for more information on locations and how to obtain lab results. All lab tests require an order by a licensed healthcare provider in the State of Hawaii.
