Hidden meaning behind Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's split unveiled
Hurting Miley Cyrus' new single Slide Away has offered some real clues as to why the singer and Liam Hemsworth have called it quits.
The pair are over - and a lot of people are giving their take on why the couple's relationship crumbled .
We've heard very little from the former lovers yet, but what can we read into Miley's new song? Plenty, according to her fans.
She is releasing the tune less than a week after their split - and there are some very telling lyrics.
In particular, the line: "Once upon a time it was paradise. Once upon a time I was paralysed. I think I'm gonna miss these harbor lights. But it's time to let it go."
The 26-year-old's song goes on: "Baby we were found but now we’re lost, so it’s time to let it go.
"I want my house in the hills, don’t want the whisky and pills - I don’t give up easily, but I don’t think I’m down."
Now, there's nothing official to say the words reflect what's gone on but fans are certain there's hidden meaning.
You can feel her emotion when she says: "So won’t you slide away, back to the ocean, I’ll go back to the city life."
Later in the song, she says: "Move on we’re not 17, I’m not who I used to be
"You say that everything changed? You’re right, we’re grown now."
The couple announced their seven-month marriage was over last weekend as pictures emerged of Cyrus kissing Kaitlynn Carter.
Meanwhile, 'dating expert' Hayley Quinn has revealed why Miley and Liam were up against it from a very early stage.
Speaking to MirrorOnline , she said “the word 'doomed' is a strong one - there's no doubt there were chronic issues in the relationship between Miley and Liam."
"Miley's smash hit 'Wrecking Ball' was based around their on/off relationship that spanned a decade," she added.
"During that time there were break ups, revelations of Miley's pansexuality and conflicting work schedules.
“Recently Miley had seemed to pull away from the relationship, appearing at high profile events such as Glastonbury without her wedding ring.
"Even her stance after the break up was defiant, publicly kissing Kaitylnn Carter."
