Galaxy Note 20 Plus Leak Shows How It Will Beat Galaxy S20 Ultra
It’s becoming increasingly clear that Galaxy Note 20+ will show us what Galaxy S20 Ultra could have been. Now we have further information on how it will do it.
According to Galaxy Club (Dutch) the Note 20+ camera will incorporate a powerful “periscope” telephoto lens much like that of the Galaxy S20 Ultra. However, it’s not known at this point whether it will use the same resolution or optical magnification factor as the S20 Ultra’s counterpart.
This suggests that the Note 20+ (concept image courtesy of LetsGoDigital) too will deliver strong zoom performance although, in the light of previous leaks, I wouldn’t expect too much of a departure from the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s design.
We already know that the gimmicky digital 100x Space Zoom feature is expected to be dropped from the Note range after overpromising and underdelivering in the Galaxy S20, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a change in telephoto hardware for the Note 20+. I would expect similar or better zoom performance from the forthcoming flagship but without the unnecessary option to push the magnification all the way up to 100x.
More importantly, the new flagship is expected to rely on the same troubled 108-megapixel main camera found in the Galaxy S20 but supplemented with an additional external focusing sensor. This is basically a design hack that allows Samsung to circumvent the problems of the Galaxy S20 Ultra without having to go back to the drawing board. I would, therefore, expect the telephoto lens to follow a ...
