Dry for now...Heavy rain coming with slow moving Sally

Hurricane Sally will make landfall along the AL/MS coast this morning with strong wind, heavy rain and storm surge. The remnants of Sally will bring rain to the Carolinas late tonight, soaking the region with flooding rain Thursday. Expect increasing clouds today, with highs holding in the mid-70s across the area. Showers will move in tonight, getting heavier by the Thursday AM commute. Off and on rain will continue through Thursday, with the peak of heavy rain happening toward midday and afternoon. Some rain could linger Thursday night before clearing happens on Friday. Three to six inches of rain will be possible, especially along the central Upstate to southern mountains. This could lead to localized flooding, rising streams/river, and water on roads. Stay weather aware into Thursday night as flooding could linger beyond the rain. Clearing will slowly happen on Friday, with breezy winds and highs in the 70s, followed by a spectacular weekend. Minimal clouds, with highs in the low 70s for the Upstate and upper 60s in the mountains. Overnight lows will cool into the 50s for the Upstate and 40s for the mountains by Saturday and Sunday night, with similar weather stretching into next week. HELLO FALL!
