KIRSTEN, THIS IS REALLY IMPACTING LOCAL HOSPITALS. HOW ARE THEY ABLE TO REACT TO THIS? >> Reporter: THE DOCTORS WE SPOKE WITH ARE CONCERNED ABOUT A POTENTIAL INCREASE IN CASES. BUT ALL HOSPITALS SAY THEY HAVE THE CAPACITY AND ARE PREPARED FOR AN INFLUX OF PATIENT FIST NEEDED. INFLUX OF PATIENTS IF NEEDED. >> WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE INCREASING NUMBER OF HOSPITALIZATIONS. >> Reporter: A GRIME MILESTONE. NORTH CAROLINA'S HIGHEST NUMBER OF DEATHS AND HOSPITALIZATIONS. MORE THAN 700 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HOSPITALIZED. AND ACROSS THE STATE, ONLY 24% OF INPATIENT HOSPITAL BEDS ARE AVAILABLE. IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNITS, ONLY 18 OF THE BEDS ARE OPEN. AND WHILE THESE NUMBERS ARE CONCERNING TO STATE LEADERS, HOSPITALS ACROSS THE TRIANGLE TELL US THEY ARE PREPARED. >> WHERE ARE YOU GOES AT RIGHT NOW? >> FOR THE SYSTEM WE'RE ACTUALLY IN A VERY GOOD SPOT. >> Reporter: UNC HEALTH IS TREATING 75 COVID-19 PATIENTS. RIGHT NOW THEY HAVE 500 ICU BEDS AVAILABLE. HUNDREDS OF VENTILATORS AND EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT TENTS UP AND READY JUST IN CASE. UNC IS THE ONLY HOSPITAL IN THE TRIANGLE WITH TESTS STILL UP. THEY HAVE HAD TIME TO PREPARE.
