Louise Smith, 16, 'seen getting into red van on day she vanished' as police find body
A neighbour has claimed they saw a girl getting into a red van with bags of clothes on the day teenager Louise Smith went missing.
Louise, 16, had been missing from her home in Havant, Hampshire, since May 8.
Following the disappearance, police said on Thursday they had found a body in woods while searching for the teen.
Officers said they were treating the death as suspicious despite no formal identification having taken place.
But a family friend told Mail Online the teen had been in the care of a married couple who lived in a first-floor flat in Havant before she went missing.
The neighbour told the publication a girl carrying a bag of clothes got into a “red van” parked near the flats on the same day the teen went missing.
They told Mail Online: “On VE Day, I saw a red van outside the flats and a girl getting into it with bundles of clothes.
“I reported this to police as it didn’t feel right… I can’t say if it was definitely her but it was a girl around her age.”
Another neighbour, John Singleton, told the publication: “I saw her on the day she went missing, she went out walking, I didn’t know where she was going.
“It’s very sad, the outcome is the saddest, for a while we had some hope.”
Neighbours had said that Louise was staying at the married couple’s in the days before she went missing.
